Martin Luther King day

Nice easy drive to work this morning - hardly any traffic. Are we the only ones working today?!!

Wow, what a day of football yesterday, New England unfortunately (yet expected) beat our fabulous San Diego Chargers. And New York Giants beat Green Bay. I had picked the complete opposite to win this week - but hey, what do I know! The excitement was palpable - it was an incredible day of great sports entertainment.
We - of course - had a few friends over to celebrate/commiserate. I cooked up an incredible seafood paella that turned out perfectly
(apart from a few of the clams didn't open - poop) - it was so tasty. Found the recipe in InStyle magazine of all places! Will definitely try that one again - maybe put chicken in next time with some king crab legs - mmmm, I'm making myself hungry.

I've temporarily given up on the sock knitting. I've been working on a blanket for some friends who have almost finished building their house out in Joshua Tree. Can't wait to see the place - they designed and built it all themselves. I haven't been out there since they first had the slab poured which was ages ago. A blanket should be perfect - it certainly gets a little chilly out there in the evenings. I wish I had more time to knit. There are SO many amazing patterns and yarns out there. I'm itching to get started on some cute sleeveless tops and summer stuff, but I really must get on top of the things I have already started. I just got the new Vogue Knitting magazine - there is THE most adorable shawl collared jacket that I would love to attempt......we'll see...!
